HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE FEEL SEEN AND UNDERSTOOD

Therapy for teens and young adults navigating anxiety, Autism, ADHD, and the challenges of growing up.

welcome - i'm leslie hein, ma, rp

I specialize in working with teens and young adults  - both neurotypical and those with Autism and/or ADHD - who are navigating life's challenges and big emotions. Whether it's anxiety, overwhelm, identity questions, or feeling misunderstood, therapy can offer a space to feel safe, seen, and supported.

My approach is collaborative and respectful of each person's unique perspective. I work with both youth and their families to build confidence, emotional insight, and connection - always with compassion, not judgement.

i provide therapy for:

  • Neurodiverse kids, teens, and young adults (10+) navigating Autism, ADHD, anxiety, or emotional regulation challenges
  • Neurotypical teens dealing with stress, self-esteem, identity, or life transitions
  • Young adults who are exploring independence, managing overwhelm, or figuring out next steps

My work is always client-centred, strengths-based, and respectful of each person's unique needs and pace.  While I don't provide therapy directly to parents or caregivers, I may invite them into sessions only when it feels helpful and the young person wants them involved.

About Me

Hi, I’m Leslie Hein (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) based in Ontario. I offer therapy to kids, teens, and young adults—both neurodivergent and neurotypical—who may be navigating big feelings, life transitions, or feeling stuck in patterns that aren't serving them. I also work with parents and caregivers when that’s part of the therapeutic journey.

My approach is playful, relational, and grounded in creating a space where clients feel seen and safe. I believe that therapy works best when it's collaborative and when clients feel free to show up as their full selves. Whether we’re talking things through or using creative tools—like a spinning wheel with conversation prompts—I tailor each session to what helps you feel most engaged and supported. With my younger clients, this often means using arts and crafts, games, and other hands-on activities to help them explore emotions and build connection.

Before starting my own practice, I worked for almost 10 years as an addiction counsellor, providing support through hospitals and community organizations. I also spent time teaching abroad with the Peace Corps, an experience that shaped the way I value flexibility, cultural humility, and creativity in relationships.

Outside of sessions, I’m a big believer in humour, long walks, and staying grounded in what makes us feel most human.
